Djibouti. According to
COUNTRYAAH, the unified opposition in the Alliance National
Rescue Union (USN), which took up its seats in Parliament at
the New Year, after a year and a half of boycott, threatened
in June to break cooperation in the National Assembly. The
reason was that the government did not live up to the
promises of democratic reform.
A religious ceremony in December degenerated into violent
clashes with police. Seven people were killed according to
official data, while the opposition reported 19 dead. Among
many injured were USN leader Ahmed Youssouf.
